A few weeks ago I was asked to do an interview for the kind folks over at Raven Tools. You can read more about it here and while you’re there, if you haven’t had a chance to take their SEO and Social Media tools for a test drive then be sure to do so. These guys are absolutely amazing people!

When it comes to twitter, is there a such thing as too much information? And if so, when is too much, too much? I asked this very question earlier, via Twitter and received an amazing pool of thoughts and opinions. 140 characters limited me from explaining my question in real detail so I’m going to elaborate here for you in hopes to continue this great spark of conversation. It’s like family Thanksgiving dinner all over again.

This whole retweet feature recently implemented by twitter has turned my twitter experience into a family reunion style meeting full of strangers and awkward thoughts of “Umm… who invited you again?” I guess I see my little stream of those I follow as my own little dysfunctional family. It’s weird seeing strange people that I’m not sure I like, in my family stream. And now, its even managed to invade my iphone apps.

The good news? There’s a way to turn it off. How? Well… let me show you. My example is brought to you by my friend Steve Plunkett who was wonderful enough to play along. Lisa Barone brings her own personal flare to MandaOtto.com (thanks Lisa). Read more

Tweet & Retweet Are Brothers. If tweet jumped off the bridge…

Twitter has recently launched it’s newest “improvement” (in beta mode to a select few) to help aid the invaluable power of retweeting. After playing with the new lists feature twitter had launched not too long ago, I was kind of excited to see what other shinny new buttons twitter had added. It didn’t take long for me to see that this new retweet feature was something I didn’t much care for. My 3 biggest complaints:

You can’t edit the tweets: I’ve never been one to simply copy, past, and throw a “RT” in front of it all. Many of my close peers know that I’m not big on retweeting things simply because I’m asked me to. If it’s not valuable content then it needs to disappear. Having the ability to add my own thoughts or even a “LOL” lets my followers know why and sometimes what, I am retweeting.

It steals my thunder: It’s not 100% clear who’s retweeting what anymore. The power of peer to peer review and approval has gone out the window. I think. The usability on it is a bit confusing. My initial attraction to twitter was how simple it was; allowing me to me communicate with a large group of friends and peers without a whole lot of “noise”. Does this sound at all familiar? Anyone remember how myspace started out?

And now the feature I despise the most…

Where do I fit in in all the list making madness? Well… apparently, I am an SEO. Oh, I’m also a cramtinesential. WHO KNEW!?
