The Anatomy of a SERP

I was recently asked what the difference is between an organic listing and a sponsored listing. These sort of questions don’t happen too often but when they do, I’m humbly reminded of how far I’ve come since I started in the search engine world. Since pictures are are worth a thousand words I present, The Anatomy of a SERP:
* Organic search results are listings shown because of their relevance to the search terms being used. SEO is the art of fine tuning a website in hopes of achieve better rankings.
* Sponsored ads are ads that have been placed using a bidding system. This is also known as Paid Search, Pay Per Click and/or PPC.
